Archer returns to Moto3 for Cadwell round

August 11, 2019

The British Superbike series moves on to Cadwell Park for round 8 this weekend with Jake Archer 8th in the British GP2 championship 20 points behind the rider in fifth place. However, this weekend Archer will be riding something different.

Jake Archer has spent 2019 gaining understanding of the KS Projects by RS Racing Kalex Moto2 machine during his rookie season in the British GP2 Championship. However, this weekend the novice Moto2 rider is to take a well-earned break from this ongoing learning process and returns to the Moto3 machine. Archer will compete for the same team but in the British Motostar Championship, the Moto3 championship he won last season.

In his championship winning season here in 2018 Jake Archer qualified second three-tenths behind his team mate Jack Scott. In the first 9 lap race of the weekend, he finished in the same position as he qualified. In the second race, he and his teammates exchanged positions with Archer taking the victory by 0.091 seconds. He also set the fastest lap of the race a 1:32.838.

The Cadwell circuit is in Lincolnshire and sits in the middle of park land. The 2.2 mile (3.5 km) circuit includes the famous “Mountain” where many riders find themselves airborne after negotiating turns 11 and 12.

Jake Archer said,” I’m looking forward to riding the KTM Moto3 again. I had such a lot of success on it over the last few years. To be homest, it has taken us longer than we expected to get to grips with the Kalex Moto2 bike this year. Sometimes you need to take a step back to go forwards. This weekend at Cadwell is all about having some fun, enjoying the racing and then we can take another look at the Moto2. The break will enable us to concentrate on something different for a weekend and then return to Moto2 more focused and productive.”
