Snetterton preview 2019

July 14, 2019

Round six of the British GP2 championship takes place next weekend at Snetterton 300 circuit for the Kovara Projects by RS Racing team.

Andover’s Jake Archer is currently fifth in the Moto2 standings two points behind fourth on 55 points. The 18-year old is the current British Moto3 champion having dominated that category last year. This season he is feeling his way as a rookie in the British GP2 championship on his Kovara Projects by RS Racing Moto2 Kalex.

Last time out Archer achieved his best qualifying position. He lined up 15th on the combined British GP2 and British Supersport grid for race one at Knockhill. Unfortunately, a technical problem ended his race almost as it started. In race two, he had to start from the back of the grid but finished sixth in the British GP2 class.

The Snetterton track is built on an old RAF airfield and underwent redevelopment to upgrade it to a FIA grade 2 circuit several years ago. The track is 2.97 miles long (4.78 Kms) making it one of the longest circuits in the country.

The weekend gets underway with two free practice sessions on the Friday. The first 30-minute session is at 09:40 followed by FP2 a 14:10.

Late Saturday morning, at 11:35 the riders take part in the important qualifying session to decide the grid for the Sprint Race that afternoon. The 10 lap Sprint Race takes place at 17:10.

The weekend closes out with the 15 lap Feature Race at 15:40 on Sunday afternoon.
