Jake Archer to race his Moto2 in Scotland

June 23, 2019

Round five of the British GP2 championship involves an eight-hundred-mile round trip to Scotland for current British Moto3 Champion Jake Archer. The Andover rider will be competing this year on a Moto2 at the 1.3 mile Knockhill circuit 10 miles outside Dunfermline. The 18-year-old Kalex rider is currently fourth in the British GP2 championship, a support series of British Superbikes.

Archer is currently in his rookie season on board the Kalex Moto2 GP machine for Team Kovara Projects by RS Racing. So far he has completed all eight of the races this season with two fourth places on the Donington Park National circuit being his best finishes.

Whilst riding the very different Moto3 machine last season Archer took victory in both races. This season he will be hoping that his positive experience at the circuit will see him quickly adapt to the bigger and faster Moto2 on the challenging tight circuit.

Apart from riding a new bike the weather can also be a major factor at the Scottish track.

Over the weekend of 28 to 30 June the British GP2 riders will compete in both a Sprint and Feature Race. There are two free practice sessions on Friday to help set the bikes up. Then after a qualifying session on Saturday morning at 11:20 the 18 lap sprint race takes place at 17:05 that afternoon. Finally, on Sunday the riders return to the circuit for the 26 lap Feature race with grid positions determined by the fastest laps of the first race.

Jake Archer said,” It’s a long way to go and you never know what conditions you might find the track in, as the weather can be very changeable. However, that is the same for all the riders and the team have given me a great bike to ride so far this year. We are all feeling confident going into the weekend. Thanks as always for the support from Kovara Projects, Euroclad, HJC Helmets, City Lifting, Radmat, Sureweld, Griffin Cleaning Southern Limited and Four Ways Property Maintenance Services.”
