Round 12 Review - Brands Hatch
Championship Runner up Jake Archer finished his Motostar season with another double podium finish at Brands Hatch.
The Andover youngster has been in sensational form all year but didn't quite have enough to beat his team mate Tom Booth Amos. The season finale followed suit again with Archer collecting two second places behind his rival.
Free Practice sessions 1 and 2 were dominated by the City Lifting duo, Archer was looking impressive but his team mate still had the edge going into Qualifying. Booth Amos set an incredible time of 1:31.999, breaking the track record leaving Archer to mop up second place and another front row start for Race 1 later on Saturday afternoon. He was joined by Elliott Lodge in P3, incidentally the only other rider to win a race in 2017.
Race 1 began with near perfect track conditions, it was Archer who got the hole shot closely followed by Asher Durham, Eugene McManus and Booth Amos in fourth. The City Lifting riders hit the front in lap 3 and began a two bike battle for first place, Durham was left isolated in third for the remainder of the race. Archer was looking good to pinch a win off his rival until lap 9 of 10 when Champion Booth Amos took the lead and rode to his 18th win of the year. Archer was just 0.532 of a second behind with Durham coming home third nearly 10 seconds adrift.
