Donington Park Provides Another Podium
Saturday afternoon brought about the first of the weekends MOTO3 races, a 10 lap spin of the Donington park circuuit that promised a really tight race with 6 riders all qualifying in the 1:39’s
Jakes first lap was a 1:42.399 but as they went for the second lap, the safety car was out! Eugene McManus Jr and Mike Brouwers had a high speed off at Redgate, Brouwers losing a boot in the process and coming off a little worse than the seemingly ok Eugene McManus Jr.
On a cool track and running at a slower pace behind the safety car, it was no wonder that cold tyres soon became an issue. four riders were almost immediately off the track and out of the race seemingly due to tyre temperature issues.
By lap 6 Jake had been pushed back to 4th by the very quick Irishman Richard Kerr but Nesbitt wasn’t messing around out in front, posting his fastest lap and breaking the 1:38 barrier in the process but Jake was fighting back, he wasn’t gaining places but he was gaining time and as result posted his own time in the 1:38’s
The final four laps were something of a parade for the top 5 riders, with everyone staying in their respective places as they rounded out the race. Interestingly the next fastest man behind Jake, Jorel Boerboom was a full 1.466 seconds slower than Jake’s best lap showing just how quick the Andover racer is.
In the weekends second race Nesbitt took the win from Saez and Archer. A fitting end to a race that didn’t upset the form book and Saw Charlie Nesbitt once again come home a clear winner almost ten seconds in front of the next best rider
Although they are rivals on the track, they are friends off it and Jake was one of the first to congratulate Charlie on his win. A lovely moment shared between two great riders
